Extract from the Pensions Emotment, 1908, of the

Federated Malay Etator.

6. (1) It shall be lawful for the Resident-General with

the sanotion of the High Commissioner (subject as regards

officers appointed under instructions from the Secretary of

State for the Colonies to the approval of such Secretary of

State) to require any public officer to retire from the public

service of the State at any time after he attain the age of

(11) Wherever it appears to the Resident or the

Resident-General, as the case may be, that any public officer

is unable to discharge efficiently the duties of his office

it shall be lawful for the Resident-General with the sanotion

of the High Commissioner (subject as regarde officers appoirted

under irstruotions received from or through the secretary or

State for the Colonies to approval of such Secretary of State)

to require such officer to retire from the public servios.

N. B. The title "Chief secretary" has been substituted for

the title "Resident-General', since the date on which The

Pensions Emotment, 1900, came into force,
